Sustainable Signage Services from Blaze Signs

At Blaze Signs, we use the latest technology alongside sustainable materials to provide signage solutions that work with the environment rather than against it.

Our methods of manufacture as well as our source material are designed to increase energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.

How Blaze Signs operates

We work closely with our clients and suppliers to ensure our signage solutions meet and surpass industry standards. We take our environmental responsibilities seriously, and this is reflected in the manufacturing techniques and materials we use.

With factories in Broadstairs and Birmingham, we have one of the largest sign-making facilities in Europe. Our sites encompass over 120,000 square feet of manufacturing capability between the two locations.

This large scale capacity allows us to handle large volume project rollouts to major retailers. As well as this, we also produce bespoke signage for one-off projects, such as cinemas, shopping centres, sports and retail parks.

Therefore, it’s important we ensure our highly skilled workforce use sustainable materials while adopting energy-efficient manufacturing techniques to create high-quality products.

Energy-efficient and environmentally friendly lighting

A significant change in recent years has been the switch from fluorescent and neon lighting lighting to LEDs.

We can now dramatically increase the lifespan and efficiency of your signage lighting. This is because LEDs are designed to last considerably longer than previous lighting option.

Compared to fluorescent tubes, LED lighting can last up to 20 times longer. Less energy is used, making LEDs up to 80% more energy efficient.

Using the most sustainable materials

At Blaze Signs, we pride ourselves on the sustainable materials we use.

One example, EKOply is a product made entirely using recycling technology. It’s manufactured from 100% recycled plastics and is 100% recyclable. It can be made to be UV resistant with a no-fade lifespan of over three years.

Resistant to rain and rot, EKOply is ideal for outdoor use and can be cut and fixed using normal tools, machinery and techniques.

We also only used sustainably sourced wood which is sourced only from sustainable forests (FSC). It’s treated through non-toxic methods that give it properties matching the best tropical hardwoods.

One of our sustainable timber options is Accoya which is treated through to the core, there are no exposed surfaces, negating the need for further chemical treatment. Additional coatings on Accoya wood last three times longer than on standard wood, reducing maintenance.

Accoya wood’s durability is 50 years above ground and 25 years below or in freshwater with a class 1 rating, making it virtually rot-proof.

How our clients benefit

Blaze Signs when commissioned by John Lewis & Partners were tasked to provide wayfinding signage to fit in with the profile of their Leckford Farm Estate, a Linking Ecology and Farming (LEAF) site, we used the most suitable and sustainable materials available with these concepts in mind.

EKOply and Accoya wood provided the ecological benefits of using sustainable materials while at the same time offering high durability and visual appeal.

In a similar fashion, we used natural tones and materials for new signage to complement the existing solid wood of the Central England Co-Operative in Lichfield. Thanks to our design, manufacture and installation, the store spectacularly comes to life in the evening with individual illuminated letters.
